Sheriff Chastain's creation of the Christmas for Kids Program has been successful in providing Christmas presents and food to thousands of children over the years. The Laurens County Sheriff's Office annually conducts fundraisers and partners with businesses, organizations and citizens alike to fund one of the largest countywide charitable efforts during the Holiday season. All money raised for this project is from donations.

Throughout the year the staff of the Laurens County Sheriff's Office and volunteers from the community conduct several large fundraising projects that assist in providing the necessary funds needed to continue this endeavor.
Among the popular fundraisers that have become annual traditions and are attended by people from around the region is the Laurens County Sheriff's Office Haunted Jail located on West main Street in Laurens. Every year during the month of October the ghouls and other scary creatures that occupy the old abandoned jail come to life to scare the brave souls who dare enter while raising funds for those in need. Another popular fundraising event is the Annual Christmas for Kids Toy Ride. Each year motorcycle riders and clubs plan for the big event that will converge on the sheriff's office with hundreds of toys being brought in by the bikers with big hearts. The Annual Christmas for Kids Wrestling Benefit has been taking place since 2002 and continues to grow as wrestling fans come from all over to see there favorite wrestling stars and even Sheriff Ricky Chastain take to the squared circle all for a good cause. |
